8 Days Congo and Rwanda Adventure Safari
This 8 Day Safari holiday awards the grand opportunities to explore Wildlife both in Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. You will trek Gorillas in DR Congo’s Virunga and Kahuzi Biega National Park, then visit Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and track chimps in Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali airport
Our Safari guide will be waiting you at the airport, greet each other and transfer up to Kigali city for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Kigali – Transfer to Nyungwe
Early in the morning have breakfast and after check out for the Journey to the south western part of Rwanda – Nyungwe Forest National Park. You can stopover en route for visits to the Mirambi genocide memorial site, King’s Palace and more. Overnight stay and dinner at Gisakura Guest House, Nyungwe Hill Top View or Nyungwe House.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe forest
Very early in the morning be at the Gisakura Park headquarters for the briefing about how to behave while in the Jungles searching for the chimps. After all sessions the journey starts to the Jungle in a group via trails that wind through luxuriant vegetation. Locating their presence in the Jungle, you are allowed to be in their presence for some time while seeing them playing, feeding, laughing and more. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Cross over to Bukavu in DR Congo
After the chimpanzee tracking, on day four you will cross over to Democratic Republic of Congo. It takes about 2-3 hours to cross from Nyungwe to Bakavu town where you base from to visit Kahuzi Biega National Park. After arriving in Bukavu town, you can visit Bukavu town and other points of interest like Lake Kivu. Overnight stay at Coco Horizon or Orchides Mbayo Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla Trek in DR Congo
Early in the morning start with a briefing at Tshivanga Visitor Centre. Then after that, the journey to jungle starts in a group with your park ranger guide following the permanently established trails. Search for these apes until you discover their presence and after locating them, you are allowed to interact with them for only one hour. Later return to the lodge for relaxation and after transfer to Lake Kivu for an overnight stay at Serena Hotel Lake Kivu.
Day 6: Boat cruise on Lake Kivu
Be relieved from all stresses after Gorilla Trek with a breathtaking boat cruise along Lake Kivu up to the coffee Island. While at the Island you can immerse into the local processes of brewing banana beer. After an island visit return to the shores of Lake Kivu for lunch and later transfer to Kinigi – Musanze district. Overnight stay at Davince lodge, La Palme Hotel, Muhabura Lodge or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 7: Mountain Gorilla trek/Golden Monkeys or Dian Fossey Hike.
On Day seven you do a second Gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park, if you can’t make for the highly priced Gorilla permits in Rwanda you can track the Golden monkeys or hike up to the Dian Fossey grave yard. Later in the afternoon transfer back to Kigali city for overnight stay at Kigali Serena Hotel.
Day 8: Kigali City Tour – Return Flight
On this last day of the Safari you will have a Kigali city tour visiting different places of interest such as Kigali genocide memorial, Gisozi genocide memorial, handcraft shops and more. Have lunch and later transfer to the airport for your return flight.
